Greenville, SC – Liberty Fellowship, the leadership effort that seeks to inspire values-based leadership among young South Carolina leaders, today announced a change of keynote speakers for the Liberty Fellowship Multi-Class Reunion Awards Banquet on Saturday, January 26, 2008.

Ronald Brownstein, political director for Atlantic Media Co., will be the new keynote speaker.  Brownstein coordinates overall political coverage for Atlantic’s publications, which include The Atlantic, The National Journal, Hotline and Congress Daily; and writes a weekly column on politics and policy which appears simultaneously in the National Journal and the Los Angeles Times.

A former national political correspondent and columnist for the Los Angeles Times, Mr. Brownstein has also served as chief political correspondent for U.S. News and World Report.  He has twice been named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.  He has appeared frequently on “Meet the Press,” “This Week with George Stephanopolous,” and “Face the Nation,” and was named by Washingtonian magazine as one of Washington’s 20 “best and most influential” journalists.  The author or editor of six books, Brownstein was born in New York City and graduated with honors from the State University of New York.

Walter Isaacson, former Chairman and CEO of CNN, had previously been announced as keynote speaker at the Awards Banquet.  Isaacson has since been appointed by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as Chairman of the U.S.–Palestinian Partnership, which promotes economic and educational opportunities as part of the peace process, so will be in Davos, Switzerland working with Tony Blair, Shimon Peres and Salam Fayyad on this important endeavor.  Expressing regret at not being able to attend the banquet, Isaacson noted, “Especially in the midst of the South Carolina primary process, [Liberty Fellowship] will have America’s best political reporter, Ron Brownstein, whose brilliant book decrying the rise of partisanship goes to the core of the Fellowship’s values.”
